Rankin won, and the Englishman went away. He returned, however, next year to be once more defeated. They fought, and the Englishman was killed.
Rankin got him buried, and raised a cairn over him. The field was afterwards known as Dail-an-t-Sasunnaich.

When he got there, he was told they had crossed to Ardnamurchan. He followed and overtook them at Kilchoan, where he killed and buried the two of them. John Johnston, of Coll, from whom this story was got, heard his uncle playing this lament.
